April 26, 2013 — Spring Conference on Aging— Aging with Attitude, a one-day regional conference focusing on issues associated with aging — and adding quality to life during the process.

Aging with Attitude, a one-day regional conference focusing on issues associated with aging — and adding quality to life during the process — is planned for April 26. The conference will be at the Wesley United Methodist Church at 500 Leawood Drive in Parsons, with sessions planned from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Registration is $15 per person and includes lunch, refreshments, prizes and a resource fair.

The conference is recommended for adults, their families and caregivers, said Gayle Price, K-State Research and Extension area family and consumer sciences specialist based in Chanute, and serving southeast Kansas.

The conference is a multi-agency collaboration of program and service providers in southeast Kansas, Price said. This year, Nina Chen, a human development specialist with the University of Missouri Extension, will keynote the conference by sharing her insight into the role, as well as the power of humor in everyday living and its effect on physical, mental and emotional health.

According to Chen, humor can reduce stress and increase productivity, Price said, who noted Chen’s message promises to be inspiring, as we often don’t stop to think how humor can have a positive impact on our lives.

Attendees are invited to choose four educational sessions.

A registration of $15 per person is due by April 15. Registration at the door on the day of the conference will be available for $25 per person, but lunch and conference materials cannot be guaranteed for late registrants. For registration or more information, go to www.southeast.ksu.edu or call, the K-State Research and Extension Southeast Area office at 620-431-1530.
