TOPEKA – The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) announces ‘Kansas Caregivers’, a partnership with Trualta to provide a personalized, skills-based training platform offering free online training to all caregivers in Kansas. The Kansas portal, https://ks-caregivers.com, enables caregivers across the state to access the eLearning platform at point-of-care, in the home or remotely 24/7 from any device.

The portal is now live for caregivers to easily sign up and access all the features Trualta offers. The program is evidence-based with demonstrated outcomes for caregivers and care recipients. The content continues to expand based on needs of family and self-directed caregivers. Topics include brain health, personal care, intellectual and developmental disabilities, music therapy, dementia expert, diabetes care, caregiver wellness, activities and recreation, safety and injury prevention, stroke recovery, grief and loss, and grandparents supporting grandchildren.

“Our goal is to support family caregivers in Kansas and alleviate part of the challenge of overcoming access to training by increasing resources and enabling them to be confident and competent to manage care at home,” KDADS Aging Services Director Christina Orton said. “We recognize the physical and emotional demands that caregivers face and hope that they will use these resources to gain skills, focus on self-care and improve outcomes for all.”

KDADS’s Aging Services team, part of its Long-Term Services and Supports Commission, administers a variety of community-based programs for the aging population through contracts and grants utilizing state and federal funds. The programs administered include Older Americans Act, congregate and home-delivered meals, caregiver programs, in-home services, Senior Care Act services, Medicare programs, and the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE).
