Big Improvements: New Payment System for Nursing Facilities

Starting January 2025, Kansas nursing facilities transitioned to the State Treasurer’s Office Collection Remittance System (CRS) — a more convenient and secure way to make Quality Care Assessment payments.

Previously, facilities could only pay by physical check, which came with risks and delays. On several occasions, checks arrived more than two months after their postmark date, creating additional effort for nursing facility staff and increasing postage costs.

To create greater efficiencies and provide a better experience for our partners, we now offer electronic funds transfer (EFT) through the CRS.
EFT payments help facilities save money by eliminating the need for postage, overnight mailing costs, trips to the post office, and the administrative time needed to prepare and track mailed checks.

As of May 2025, more than 98% of Kansas nursing facilities have successfully transitioned to the new platform, making payment processing faster, safer, and more cost-effective for nearly all facilities across the state. Effective with State Fiscal Year 2025 Quarter 4 (due July 30, 2025), all QCA payments must be entered through the CRS.
