TOPEKA -- The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) will unveil KanCare 2.0 to the public Friday ahead of plans to conduct public meeting across the state next month to review the proposal. KanCare is the program through which the State of Kansas administers Medicaid.

After public comment is incorporated into the proposed new waiver, KDHE will submit it the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requesting renewal of the KanCare demonstration under Section 1115(a) of the Social Security Act.

KanCare is designed to advance the health and independence of Kansans. The vision for KanCare 2.0 focuses on the following four themes:

  1. Coordinate services to strengthen social determinants of health and independence, and person centered planning;
  2. Promote highest level of member independence;
  3. Drive performance and quality improvement for better care; and
  4. Improve effectiveness and efficiency of state Medicaid program.
