Behavioral Health

Mission

Ensuring all Kansans can access integrated services for prevention, treatment, and recovery to live safe, healthy, successful, and self-determined lives in the community of their choice.

Vision

Kansas communities support services that promote wellness.

What We Do

The Behavioral Health Services Commission is the state mental health authority and is responsible for managing mental health funding in Kansas. In addition, it facilitates addiction and prevention services and programs for the State of Kansas, including targeted workforce development initiatives. In addition, the commission works in close collaboration with the Governor’s Behavioral Health Services Planning Council.

Our work is supported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and KDADS. KDADS is responsible, by statute, and holds the authority and responsibility to coordinate and provide substance abuse and mental health services in Kansas. We promote effective public policy and develop and evaluate programs and resources for behavioral health prevention, treatment, and recovery services.

How We Can Assist
